The decision to make the world's best antenna positioners started with years of amateur radio experience. As
our stations got larger, so did our antennas. We realized the most unreilable part of a radio station is the
"rotator". Why? It is an electromechanical component exposed to the harshest environments - temperature
cycling, moisture, winds, lightning, mechanical overloading and poor maintenance. It's design is probably a
50 year old rehased version of something built for an entirely different application.

To compound the problem, the rotator is the most difficult part of a station to install, maintain, repair and
replace.

After 55 years of amateur radio and 40 years of electromechanical design experience, we knew there was a
better way! We decided to use our experience aided by modern design techniques to address the issue. To be
sure we were on the right track, we asked DXers and contesters what they want -- they said
"Give us quality,
reliability and strength"
.

From this, requirements and specifications were developed. Research was conducted on materials, tools and
techniques to learn the state of the art. Designs were conceptualized using the best available solutions.
Where none existed, we invented. The best concepts were detailed using computer aided design (CAD) and
3D solid modeling software. Models were built and tested. Designs were honed to perfection. Finally, designs
went into production using the latest precision CNC manufacturing techniques.

We addressed long standing weaknesses by designing new components (i.e., friction mast clamps to replace
point contact designs that always slipped). We added precision motion control (rate of rate ramp) to minimize
tower stress and gearbox wear. We incorporated mechanical overload protection where possible (braking
torque is not BREAKING torque). We kept specifications meaningful (and within tower limits).

CYTORQ incorporates new designs - not adaptations of 50 year old technology and old tooling. CYTORQ uses
new components in current production.
CYTORQ is 21st century technology and is the first ALL DIGITAL
positioner. With
CYTORQ, quality, reliability and strength are designed in - not patched on.
